YOU'RE NOT AN IMPOSTER

Have you ever achieved something great, but felt like you didn’t truly deserve it? Do you sometimes worry that others will "find out" you’re not as capable as you seem? If so, you’re not alone. Many firsts and onlys experience feelings of imposter syndrome.

It’s totally understandable if from time to time these feelings arise. It’s easy to doubt your abilities when you’re constantly the only person from your background in a certain space. Being the only can make you self-conscious and question yourself.

Glossary. imposter syndrome causes people to feel like they are frauds or not good enough, despite evidence to the contrary self-doubt of intellect, skills, or accomplishments among high-achieving individuals the internal belief that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be glossary sources: Baker College, 2022; Merriam-Webster, 2024

When the imposter syndrome creeps in, or you start to feel like you don’t deserve to be there, remember you are capable and you do belong. The feelings you’re feeling are real in the moment, but they don’t have to become your reality forever.

Shift your negative thoughts and embrace the truth, which is: you’re competent, you’re capable, and you deserve to be in every space you enter.
